Maëlle Deral – dancer

Originally from Saint Etienne (FR), Maëlle Deral trained as a dancer and performer in Coline (Istres) where she worked with choreographers such as Mathilde Monnier and Nacera Belaza. Later, she worked on Encercling with Shlomi Tuizer and Edmond Russo and on Drinking the Rain with Georges Appaix. In 2014 she took part in Luc Petton’s creation Light Bird. Since 2015 she has been joint director with El Shafey Adel of Cie Le Scribe. Holder of a state-registered diploma in Contemporary Dance since 2017, she has worked regularly with a wide range of audiences. Déral has worked with Eric Minh Cuong Castaing’s Shonen troupe on the Vibes project, which won the Dansathon 2018 award, a European project that combines dance with new technology at the Dance Biennale in Lyon. She is currently working with Cie Gilles Jobin in Geneva and features in the augmented reality dance work Magic Window (AR, 2019) and the pieces Dance Trail (AR, 2020) and Real Time (2020).
